Everyone's counting but the voter
Indianapolis, IN – August 7, 2019. John P. Schmitz, an Independent Candidate for Mayor of Indianapolis, filed a lawsuit in Federal Court at 10 am Tuesday, August 6, against the State of Indiana and the Marion County Election Board. The goal is for the Federal court to overrule the Marion County Election Board’s decision of July 30, 2019, thereby putting John P. Schmitz on the November Indianapolis Mayor ballot. It is believed the Election Board erroneously interpreted an Indiana statute and failed to certify over 1,000+voters who signed the petitions. If the Federal Court certifies these additional 1,000+ petition signatures, then Schmitz will have more than the 6,106 required certified Marion County Registered Voter signatures and will thus be placed on the ballot for Mayor of Indianapolis in the November General Election.
